Thread veins, spider veins, and skin veinsThese terms refer to small broken veins just under the skin cannot be treated by conventional surgical techniques. The veins are quite unsightly and can occur in large areas of the leg or on the face. These blemishes can be treated by a variety of techniques. We prefer to use a new technique known as ‘Veinwave’. The Veinwave technique does not involve any injections into the skin. Veinwave works by a process called thermo-coagulation. The energy created by the high frequency current produces a burn, which destroys the vein while preserving the skin. This procedure can be used safely on faces and legs. Veinwave treatment time is approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Approximately 200 to 250 impulses can be delivered in this time, treating 40 to 50 cms of thread veins on any part of the body. After EffectsTiny circular red marks that look a bit like bee stings appear. These form minute scabs which will disappear in between 5 days and 4 weeks eliminating the risk of burning, pigmentation, and bruises which are commonly associated with laser and shortwave diathermy treatment.
